New(s) Year You Can’t Live Without – 2012
Sit down. We need to have a talk.
Are you sitting down?
Good.
So… I have a confession to make.
I’m… wow, this is harder than I thought it would be.
Ok. <whew> I’m just going to say it:
I’m not going to write short stories for awhile.
It’s… it’s not you, it’s me. I’ve been going through a lot of… changes recently.
And, well, I’ve been seeing someone else.
A novel.
I didn’t mean it to happen, ok? It wasn’t on purpose. I still like short stories and all, we just… drifted apart a little. And then I downloaded this program. It was just a demo. I never meant for it to go further. But, well, one thing led to another, and I kind of liked it. I liked how the novel was treating me. It made me feel special. It took me dancing, and out to nice restaurants. It bought me flowers. Told me I looked nice. That kind of thing.
We’re not moving in together or anything. I’m not ready for that kind of commitment just now. I’ve been hurt before. But I really want this to work. So I’m giving the novel until July. Like a ‘try before you buy’ scenario. (And yes, we’re using protection. Why would you even ask that? Gross.)
Short stories aren’t going anywhere, either. They’ll still be free and right on the site where they’ve always been. And it’s not like I CAN’T do one now and then. I’m not closing that door completely. To prove it, I’m going to leave the price of each STRANGITIES Collection at $.99. Permanently.
In fact, it’s actually a good thing. It also allows me to add something to the site I’ve been wanting to do for a long time now:
I’m adding a blog.
Nothing big at first. Not like Gawker or anything. Just a few posts here and there. I’ve seen a lot of weird stuff in my day, and I’ve wanted to share it with you, I really have, but I didn’t feel like I could post it on a short stories website. But now that me & the novel are together, I’m ready to take more chances. Be more adventurous. So I’ve added it to the menu. You can check it out now. I’ve already put something special in it for you.
2012 is gonna be a good year. Until… you know… the world ends.
